Certified Mold Testing Since 2007
Energy efficient construction techniques have greatly contributed to mold problems by reducing fresh air exchange and diminishing a buildings ability to remove excess moisture. The problems are caused by thermal insulation, tight building enclosures, recirculated forced air heating and cooling, and the elimination of chimneys. Changes in construction materials and lack of proper maintenance have also contributed to the problem. These changes increased the potential for a variety of health problems related to indoor air quality. Situations that lead to mold growth include flooding from heavy rain, snow and ice, plumbing leaks, broken pipes, sewer or drain backups, roofs, sprinkler systems, gutters and down spouts, appliances that vent indoors, and damp basements/crawl spaces.

Don't wait for mold to grow! If it has been longer than 72-hours since you experienced water flooding, leaks, ice dam or moisture damage, call us for a mold test BEFORE you start making repairs. AFTER restoration is completed call us again for a "final" mold test to certify the area is a healthy environment. Many homeowners have experienced remediated water damage that was covered up with the restoration work. As time goes by and temperatures change, the mold reproduces into spores when it finds organic materials such as cardboard, ceiling tiles, and wood products. It can also grow in dust, paints, wallpaper, insulation, drywall, carpet, fabric, and upholstery. As long as mold stays dry and is sealed off, it will not grow. However, it will grow rapidly once it is exposed to the open air, and given warm temperatures and moisture or high humidity - we call "the right conditions". Schedule an air quality test or a black mold inspection.
"Dampness and mold in homes have been associated with increase of childhood wheeze and cough and other adverse health effects. Adverse health effects to indoor mold exposure include but are not limited to respiratory infections, asthma, allergic bronchopumonary mycosis, allergic fungal sinusitis, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Visible mold, moldy or musty odor, water damage as well general dampness and moisture are all good indicators for moldy conditions of an indoor environment. A mold inspection will typically take the combination of those factors into account and support the evidence through mold testing."
Flooding can cause "hazardous or dangerous materials and microorganisms including asbestos, chemical contaminants, mold and sewage bacteria" to affect water and moisture in your building. Our dedicated Lab of "highly trained personnel is ready to assist with immediate and follow-up environmental testing to ensure a safe environment and proficiency in the cleanup processes."
